Advanced Dermatology has multiple specialties, and we particularly pride ourselves on medical skin procedures that remove cancer and improve your health.
Specialty skin treatments
Your skin is important. As the human body’s largest organ, it requires unique services to remain healthy and nurtured. Having healthy skin means it can better perform its primary functions, like protection, heat regulation, and sensation. The skin regulates so many aspects of our body, so its wellbeing should be one of your top priorities, especially as you age and certain conditions like sun exposure start to wear it down.
To cover all the bases of skin health, Advanced Dermatology offers multiple treatments and services, each one specialized to treat your specific condition. From the everyday to the rare and unique, we can meet any challenge.
Acne
Affecting more than 40 million Americans each year, acne is one of the most common skin conditions out there. It is most often found in adolescents as they go through puberty, but it can also pop up with newborns, people with poor diets, and menopausal women. Luckily, pretty much everyone living with acne can get clearer skin thanks to continued medical advancements. Advanced Dermatology has access to the latest and greatest treatment methods.
Rosacea
Characterized by the extremely flushed skin on your face, rosacea is broken down into four subcategories, each of which come with slightly different symptoms. This makes it a complex condition to diagnose and treat. Ocular rosacea affects the skin surrounding your eyes; phymatous rosacea makes the skin thick and bumpy in addition to flushed; erythematoleanglectic rosacea features visible blood vessels in addition to redness; and papulopustular rosacea is like acne. We can target all four subsets in our Tribeca center.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis appears at patches of skin that are thick, discolored, and itchy. You most often find it on your lower back, elbows, knees, hands, and feet. Psoriasis is unsightly but it is not uncommon – like acne, it’s one of the most common skin conditions people can experience. However, it is much more serious than acne because it could be a sign of psoriatic arthritis, an immune disorder. To treat psoriasis, Advanced Dermatology can prescribe the latest in topical creams.
Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer – it affects more than two million people each year in this country alone. Thankfully, when caught and treated early, it is also the most curable form of cancer. Our Tribeca office is equipped to treat basal cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and more. Depending on the nature of your exact condition, our team of physicians may recommend Mohs micrographic surgery, which is the most tried-and-true method of removing skin cancer. We also offer radiotherapy. Make sure to keep an eye on the warning signs of skin cancer, including skin lesions that increase in size or change in color; new lesions that have irregular outlines; any lesion that is bleeding or scabbing. Those most at risk for skin cancer are senior citizens and people who spend a lot of time in the sun.
